Given enough time, any man may master the physical. With enough knowledge, any man may become wise. It is the true warrior who can master both....and surpass the result

The benefits of excercise done in a martial arts class are well known. Proven benefits include weight loss, increased flexibility and agility, better posture awareness, increased core strength and varied improvements of cardiovascular fitness. Other benefits may include (varying between each person) better, more refreshing sleep, lessened stress symptoms, boosted immune response and more smiles all round! Part of this is not just the physical movement, but the mental and "spiritual" side, plus having a great time making new friends.
Why spend lots of money every month just to pound a treadmill? Couldn't you use that time better to learn something and find new friends as well? How about something fascinating like a martial arts tradition that stretches back through centuries? You can learn history, a new language, combat tactics and spiritual traditions all at once and without dull, mindless repetition. Because of the flexibility of our programme, you can learn as much or as little as you like, dip your toe or jump in with both feet. And because of the feeling of "brotherhood" (and sisterhood!) of the classes, you will have plenty of people to chat with about it, and learn some more recent histories. Some stories of past exploits are now legend!
What isn't well known about martial arts exercise is that unnatural or "forced" movements as prescribed by some types of martial art can do long term damage to your joints and ligaments, resulting in a premature ageing effect on your body.
Take care! Make sure your class and instructor always promotes natural movement and that they understand human body mechanics or they could be ruining your health! Not only that, but instructors that bully, physically or mentally intimidate or abuse their students are to be avoided. The best environment for learning has been proven time and again to be one with mutual respect and a positive atmosphere.
