Class times and seminar information

Our regular classes:

Every Tuesday and Wednesday,
7:30pm - 9:00pm.

Class structure

Please try to arrive at least 5 minutes before class so you have plenty of time to change into your traing kit, ready to go for 7:30pm. If you turn up early, please ring the bell on the right of the door and if there is someone present, they can let you in to wait.

We train in the lower hall to the right of the main doors at the Stow St entrance.

Here is a typical class structure for your info, but please remember we are fairly flexible and sometimes just go with the flow!

  • Start and Greeting
  • 5-10 minutes warmup and stretching.
  • Rolling and breakfalls
  • Water break
  • Basics practice
  • Taijutsu (unarmed) techniques
  • Water break
  • Weapons techniques
  • Demonstrations
  • Bow out, announcements.
  • Finish

Check the page on joining our club for more info on the classes and what you can expect.

Please remember that you may take a sip of water at anytime and rest when you feel you need to. We put your health, safety and enjoyment above all!

Each lesson we will be trying to focus on just one aspect of the spectrum of techniques so for example with unarmed: restraint techniques, kicking, different punching and striking, throws, joint locks or "pain" techniques and with weapons: use of swords, long and short, knives, staff and stick techniques, chain/rope techniques or one of the many specialist "ninja" weapons such as throwing stars (shuriken).

Eventually those going for their grading will be given specific kata or other aspects to learn. Grading certificates are official and come only from Japan!
